The Indian food processing industry is regulated by several laws out of which the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex food regulator which governs standards for article of food and to regulate their manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure safe and wholesome food for human consumption. Whereas, the apex regulator for organic food products is APEDA which looks into the production, processing, import and export of organic food products.
